WHAT ARE CUSTOM COLOR SHEET PRODUCTS?

Johnson Plastics Plus and our partner Rowmark offer custom color sheet products to customers who need to match an exact look or Pantone® color. This can be done by digitally printing specific colors to a plastic sheet or through custom color-matched plastic sheets manufactured by Rowmark, the world’s leader in engravable and printable plastic sheet extrusion.

PRINTED OR MANUFACTURED CUSTOM COLOR SHEETS?

Determining which type of custom color sheet you need comes down to two primary questions: the number of sheets you need and the application.

- CustomHue digitally printed sheet products are ideal for smaller orders of one 24” x 48” sheet or more. These sheets are available in either white or clear base layer (depending on the printing color requirements) and in 1/16” (1.6mm) or 1/8” (3mm) thickness with a matte, non-glare finish. Sheets can be produced quickly to match specific Pantone® colors and are ideal for interior use and some outdoor applications. CustomHue is the perfect option for short-run or one-time projects.

- Rowmark ColorMatch sheets are manufactured with custom blended colorants in the sheet to match Pantone® colors. This option offers a wider range of thicknesses and is intended for projects of 200 24” x 48” sheets or more. Rowmark ColorMatch offers a wider range of finish options, including gloss, matte, and a variety of textures, and is ideal for larger or ongoing projects for both interior and exterior applications.

TURNAROUND TIME?

Our typical lead time for CustomHue digitally printed sheets is 5-10 business days after sample/color approval. For Rowmark ColorMatch, lead times will vary based on material requested and order volume. Our team of custom color experts will be able to provide you with better lead time estimates based on your order specifics.

Are custom two-ply or two tone color options available?

Yes! The team at Johnson Plastics Plus can work directly with Rowmark to get you engraving sheets made from existing colors available in the Rowmark product line. Minimums start at as few as two 24” x 48” sheets for some products.

HOW IS A CUSTOM COLOR SHEET DIGITALLY PRINTED?

CustomHue sheets are digitally printed using the latest in UV-LED printing technology. This offers a durable, vibrant printed surface suitable for most applications.

CustomHue sheets start with a base layer of either white or clear plastic. The UV-LED printed color is then applied to the front of the sheet on the white plastic and the back of the sheet for clear plastic.

Once the sheets are printed, customers can choose to have adhesive backing applied. All sheets are 24” x 48” in size and available in 1/8” or 1/16” thickness.

HOW ARE ROWMARK CUSTOM COLOR SHEETS MANUFACTURED?

Rowmark ColorMatch sheet products are manufactured using the plastic extrusion process. This process blends plastic and colorant, melts it to a specific temperature, and extrudes it from a precision die to produce a uniform flat plastic sheet to a particular thickness.

The team at Rowmark can produce sheet products with various finishes, including matte, gloss, and a range of textures.

For the custom color, the experienced Rowmark team will match the plastic to your specific Pantone® color and, after approval, begin the manufacturing process.
