OVERVIEW

Single-ply clear extruded acrylic sheets are a lightweight, durable alternative to glass. Clear extruded acrylic is perfect for craft and hobby projects, signage, protective barriers, and more!

Ideal for laser cutting, rotary engraving and UV LED printing. Extruded sheets can also be thermoformed or heat-bent into shapes.

  • Exceptional optical clarity - It allows light to pass through with minimal distortion, making it an ideal material for applications where transparency is essential
  • Impact resistant – extruded acrylic sheet are less prone to shattering and breaking compared to glass
  • Weather Resistant – extruded acrylic is resistant to UV radiation and weathering, making it suitable for outdoor application
  • Versatility - both sides of the extruded acrylic can be engraved on both sides of materials
  • Comes with protective masking on both sides
  • Gloss finish on both sides
  • Available in 1/32" (.8mm), 1/16" (1.6mm), 1/8" (3mm) or 1/4" (6.35mm) thicknesses

What is the difference between extruded acrylic and cast acrylic?

Cast acrylic and extruded acrylic are two different types of acrylic sheets, and they have several differences in terms of their manufacturing processes, properties, and applications. Extruded acrylics are made by melting acrylic resin pellets while cast acrylic is made through a process called cell casting, which is where liquid acrylic is poured into molds and allowed to rest.

Cast acrylic sheets often have a tighter thickness tolerance, resulting in more consistent thickness across the sheet. Extruded acrylic sheets may have a wider thickness tolerance, which can lead to variations in thickness from one part of the sheet to another.

Cast acrylic is more suitable for complex machining, such as laser cutting, routing, and engraving, because of its consistent thickness and higher heat resistance during machining. Extruded acrylic is easier to bend and shape when heated, making it more suitable for applications requiring curved or molded shapes.

Laser-cutting cast acrylic creates a clean-cut edge. When laser-cutting extruded acrylics, burrs can form on the cut edges. Engraving extruded acrylic produces a matte grey look, while cast acrylic produces a high-contrast white when engraved.

Is clear extruded acrylic the same as Plexiglas®?

Extruded acrylic is typically used in applications where a clear product is desired and is often used in signage or as partitions and dividers. It is clear and easy to see through, and can be produced in various thicknesses for a range of applications. Extruded acrylic can be fabricated with a laser engraver, rotary engraver, and cut with shears.

Plexiglass is a name brand for cast acrylic that mimics the characteristics of glass. It is typically harder and thicker than traditional extruded clear acrylic.

Can you use clear extruded acrylic outdoors?

Clear extruded acrylic is an ideal product for outdoor use. It is UV-stable and will not fade or yellow in direct sunlight. It is also outdoor weatherable and offers outstanding impact resistance.

What is clear acrylic good for?

Extruded clear acrylic sheets are ideal for use with indoor and outdoor applications, including signage and light diffusing uses. Acrylic is durable and can be fabricated with a range of equipment, including laser and rotary engravers, cutting shears, and can also be heat bent into various shapes.

  3. not happy 1 people found this helpful

Terrible product and handled even worse by the employees. Every sheet I order is either severely damaged or the film is completely coming off when you open the box. Product looks like its been dragged down a gravel road.
