How do you sublimate a glass?

Sublimation on a glass with a sublimation coating can be achieved using a specialty heat press, like a mug press, or using a shrink sleeve and a convection oven. If you’re pressing a large volume of glasses, you may prefer to use a convection oven to increase your productivity.

For the heat press method, set up your heat press according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place the glass substrate with the taped transfer paper into the heat press. Apply heat and pressure according to the recommended settings for sublimation onto glass (typically around 400°F to 425°F for 60-90 seconds). Once the sublimation process is complete, carefully remove the glass from the heat press and allow it to cool.

If using a convection oven, preheat the oven to the recommended temperature (around 400°F to 425°F). Place the glass substrate with the taped transfer paper inside a shrink sleeve and apply heat using a heat gun. Once you have the shrink sleeve and transfer affixed to the glass, place the glass in the oven. Heat the glass for the required duration (usually 10-15 minutes, depending on the oven and substrate).

After heating, carefully remove the glass from the oven and let it cool down.

Once the glass has cooled down, carefully peel off the transfer paper to reveal the sublimated design adhered to the glass surface.
